Community Foundations are a new and rapidly growing movement in the world of charity. We make it easier and more satisfying for individuals and companies to support community projects in their area.
The Tasmanian Community Foundation was established in 1995 as an independent philanthropic organisation. It is Australia’s oldest community foundation.
Community Foundations are an innovative way for philanthropists to conduct their giving. They provide an alternative to creating individual trusts or foundations, which can prove complicated to set up and administer. Australia has more than 30 Community Foundations.
The Tasmanian Community Foundation (the Foundation) acts as Trustee to two Trusts – the Public Fund (which accepts tax deductible donations) and the Open Fund (for non-tax deductible donations).
The Foundation is interested in hearing from individuals or companies wishing to contribute to its work. If you would like to make a donation to an existing program, or if you are interested in starting your own named program, please see our ‘Information for Donors’ page.
For information on applying for a grant visit the ‘Information for Grant Seekers’ page. Grant Rounds will be held in April and October 2010.
